If I have a moment when I appear not be listening please, continue to do what you do.
Come over to me and tell me quietly
“mummy, it’s really important that you listen to me”
I am so fortunate to have a daughter who at four years old is articulate enough to communicate in this way and I understand that when you say those words what you mean is
“mummy, this is important to me – right now”
Your four year old brain will be off exploring again soon and if I miss the moment I am missing an opportunity to see into your world.
Thank you for sharing the little things with me,
I love you
Mummy
