Moving overseas is something many of us consider at some point in our lives whether it for climate, health or financial reasons among others.
From this page I will be building a comprehensive source of information for those considering a move abroad. It’s a life changing event that many rush into without thinking about the bigger picture, one which in 30% of cases ends in a return home. As the website grows I aim to have guest posts from those who have had different experiences in many countries, I hope to help and inspire you along the way! I will also be putting together a directory of sorts by country with links to the relevant government departments and professionals for your ease of access; I hope you understand that this is going to take me some time to compile but we’ll get there eventually and of course, if you have a specific question just drop me a line.
My eBook – Helping Those Who Are Considering Moving Overseas
One of the things I am passionate about is creating the best life I can for myself and Lola. Based on this I wanted to help others and initially used my coaching experience to work with individuals who were considering moving overseas; I soon realised that not everyone can afford to have someone coach them personally. This is why the book was created, the exercises that I would give people in sessions have been included in my book so now I am able to help many more people at a much more affordable price.
Some of the subjects covered are:
- Reasons to stay
- Reasons to go
- Long term planning
- Financial Stability
- The bigger picture – why it isn’t all sunshine and wine
- What could go wrong
- Language barriers
- Culture
- Climate / weather
- Health
Have you already read the book? If so you can receive the printables of the worksheets and exercises by emailing me at emma@livinglavidalola.com .
Here is an extract from the book
Things You Must Consider If Moving Abroad
“Why do you want to go? Sounds like a stupid question doesn’t it, but when you dig deep you may find that there are as many reasons to stay as there are to go. Here are some of the more common reasons that people have for wanting to buy property overseas.
- Retirement
- Family
- Health
- Better quality of life
- Better weather
- Job prospects
- Wanting to get away from something
- Unhappiness
- Grass is greener syndrome
Do any of those resonate with you? If so which ones? Conversely, have any of them made you question yourself? Are you looking to go overseas because there is a situation here you want to get away from, if there is it will probably catch up with you wherever you are! I quite honestly can say that when I went to Thailand I was suffering with grass is greener syndrome. Only now, 14 years later, I am back in the UK and I realise that this is actually a beautiful country, it’s how you choose to perceive it and live your life that makes the difference.”
